2026 Park Service Day puts focus on cleanup, painting and park repairs

Creeks will be cleared, playground areas refreshed, murals repainted, and park facilities repaired as volunteers head out across Tyler for Keep Tyler Beautiful’s annual Park Service Day on Saturday, Sept. 19.

The morning of service brings residents, businesses, and organizations together to complete hands-on projects at several City parks and recreation spaces. This year’s work ranges from creek and pond cleanup to painting, landscaping, and minor repairs.

Planned projects include:

• Woldert Park and Glass Recreation: Garden cleanup, pond cleanup, and cleaning and painting signage.

• Oak Grove Park: Painting a basketball court mural, clearing weeds from playground fall zones, and spreading new mulch.

• City Park: Creek cleanup, repainting the ping pong table, cleaning signage, painting and repairing the pavilion, clearing weeds from playground fall zones, and spreading new mulch.

• Crescent Park and Emmett J. Scott Park: Creek cleanup, removing two grills, painting the restroom interior, clearing weeds from playground fall zones, and spreading new mulch.

• Gassaway Park: Flower bed work, clearing weeds from playground fall zones, and spreading new mulch.

• Hillside Park: Creek cleanup, removing old playground equipment from the pavilion, clearing weeds around the pavilion, repainting the restroom mural, painting the restroom interior, clearing weeds from playground fall zones, and spreading new mulch.

Volunteers will check in at their assigned location between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. Projects will take place from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by a closing ceremony at 11:45 a.m. Volunteers will receive their project assignment and additional event information before the event.

Park Service Day is part of Keep Tyler Beautiful’s ongoing efforts to connect community volunteers with projects that care for Tyler’s parks and public spaces.

Advance registration has closed, but community members who would still like to participate can sign up online.
