#SchoolisCool event returns on August 6

The 13th annual #SchoolisCool back-to-school celebration is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 6, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the W.T. Brookshire Conference Center and Rose Garden Center, located at 2000 W. Front St. and 420 Rose Park Dr.

The event helps children and parents prepare for the new school year by providing 2,000 free backpacks filled with school supplies to school-aged children on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Students must be present to receive a backpack.

Families attending the event will also have access to a variety of free services and community resources, including haircuts, immunizations, vision screenings, educational information, and family-friendly activities.

Now in its 13th year, #SchoolIsCool brings together businesses, nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, volunteers, and community partners who share a commitment to helping students begin the school year equipped for success.
